SUBMISSION PROCEDURES:

Without obligation to either party, you send us an e-mail stating the service you require. By e-mail/phone we come to an Agreement BEFORE you send any material for assessment, or any money. We issue you an AGREEMENT REFERENCE NUMBER with the Agreement. Once your payment receives bank clearance we will accept submission of your materials.

Please choose to either complete the order form ONLINE or print off a PRINTABLE order form to take advantage of our services. Our online order process is the more efficient method, providing the shortest turnaround time.

Scripts may be e-mailed. The consulting fees paid by credit card via PAYPAL or MONEY ORDER (pre-received & received bank clearance). There is an extra charge of $15.00 for this service. This is to cover Paypal fees and printing costs.

We will confirm your completed order. We supply you an anticipated completion date within 24 hours of receiving: 1) order form, 2) payment, 3) material to be serviced, and 4) your acceptance of the SCREENPLAY ANALYSIS SUBMISSION AGREEMENT form.

E-mail the script as an attachment in any of the following: Final Draft, Microsoft Word, or RTF text.

Confirmation of the arrival of your script and payment will be e-mailed to you immediately upon our receiving it.

When submitting your screenplay:

To better serve your needs, we request you briefly answer the following questions:

• What film(s) would you compare your screenplay to?
• What are the major themes of your story?
• What does this story mean to you personally and why did you choose it?

  Include your answers in the body of your email.

Advice Regarding Submitting Materials

Whether we work together or not, ensure your screenplay is ready to be shopped before you submit it to anyone. You only get one chance - period. Get as much feedback as you can afford first - and NOT from your friends, even the ones in the business no matter how objective they say they are. You can't trust them to be objective. Run it past someone who first of all knows how to read a screenplay and who doesn't know you at all.

Should my script be accompanied by any other material?

Miscellaneous items (artwork, tapes, CDs, etc.) that are sometimes included to "accompany" the reader while reading the script are never looked at or listened to.

IF YOU ARE PURCHASING AN ANALYSIS: Send only the script or manuscript. Save your money for more copies. We may at some time during our analysis request other materials. The Script Archeologist will only accept these after having requested them as part of one of our services we are supplying. (Ex. Ghostwriting or follow up).

IF YOU ARE PURCHASING OUR OTHER SERVICES: When purchasing one of our premiere USP services, as part of our consultation we will discuss what materials are needed to accompany your script. Prior to sending any materials be sure to confirm with us what is needed and what will be accepted.

SUBMISSION Disclaimer/Guarantee

1. We make no warrants, promises or guarantees that you will sell your screenplay as a result of our services.
2. Please remember that analysis is necessarily subjective.
3. Keep a master copy of all work submitted.
4. We will perform the services we agree upon in a timely manner; see turnaround times based on service provided.
5. Fees are non-refundable.
6. Please enclose an SASE (self addressed stamped envelope) with sufficient postage for return of your material.
7. All material you submit must be in a recognized screenplay "format", 12 point font (Courier) unless employing our Typesetting Services.
8. We guarantee direct, to the point, well-structured, honest criticism. You need to be suspicious of any screenplay service that offers you less.
9. Our credits are available upon request.

Confidentiality

Before submitting your script to this service or any other, we strongly recommend you Copyright and/or register your submitted material with the Writers Guild of America and/or the US Copyright Office.

Only our staff will read and discuss your material. All projects, notes, and related material are treated as confidential. They will not be released to any third party without your prior consent, except when required by law.

The Script Archeologist has a clearly stated Confidentiality Code we are bound to. READ IT! Do NOT send us any money or material until an Agreement, in writing is reached. All sessions are confidential as your copyright is fully protected regardless of any contributions made to your property by anyone at The Script Archeologist. Details regarding agreements between The Script Archeologist and our clients are NOT released to any other party except where legally required to under the Laws of Canada and/or the country in which our client holds residency.

reSUBMISSIONS

Yes. The Script Archeologist does accept re-submissions. The Script Archeologist treats re-submissions exactly like first time submissions. All submission requirements remain the same. There is no guarantee that a project will eventually receive "consider" or "recommend" coverage, even after using our services. One of the biggest mistakes that writers make when resubmitting is they don't take time to do a complete pass on their rewrite. Be sure you examine in detail the structure and character dynamics in the particular genre you are writing in. Getting a consider is very hard. So, take time and study the material you're writing.

 

If I have a story idea that I think would make a good film but am not a screenwriter and don't wish to write the screenplay myself, can I send it to you?

Yes. The Script Archeologist provides a "Premise Evaluation" service for those who have an idea for a screenplay. The fee we charge for this service is listed on our Consulting & Services page under Premise Evaluation. The Premise Evaluation determines whether or not your idea would be a viable one. If we determine that it may have a chance in the marketplace, you would have the option of having us send a proposal outlining the costs you would incur for the different development phases and the time frame needed for us to write the screenplay for you. Investing in a screenplay is always a high-risk venture. There is never any guarantee of a sale.
